F&G Annuities & Life, Inc. (FG) Presents at KBW Insurance Conference 2026 Transcript

F&G Annuities & Life, Inc. (FG) took the stage at the KBW Insurance Conference 2026 to outline its forward‑looking agenda. Chief Executive Officer and President Conor Murphy was joined by newly appointed chief financial officer Mike Bailey, who started six weeks earlier, and chief investment officer Leena Punjabi. The trio fielded questions about the firm’s recent leadership change and its growth blueprint.

Strategic Priorities

Murphy opened by acknowledging his recent promotion to CEO at the end of June, after serving as CFO for roughly a year and a half. He emphasized that the company’s core objectives remain anchored in expanding scale and enhancing profitability. “Growth and momentum are a couple of words that come to mind,” he said, underscoring a continuity of purpose that began under his predecessor, Chris Blunt, who recently shifted roles within the organization.

Growth Momentum

In his remarks, Murphy highlighted what he described as an “exceptional growth story for larger life and annuity companies.” He pointed out that F&G has succeeded in increasing gross assets under management (AUM) in every quarter to date. Net AUM has also risen each quarter, with the sole exception of the most recent period, a dip he attributed to the divestiture of the Bermuda business. Aside from that transaction, both gross and net AUM metrics continue to guide the firm’s performance assessment.

AUM Growth

The sale of the Bermuda operation, while temporarily reducing net AUM, was presented as a strategic move to sharpen the company’s focus on core markets. Murphy noted that the transaction does not alter the firm’s commitment to tracking AUM growth as a primary indicator of success. He reaffirmed that the leadership team will keep a close eye on both gross and net figures as they steer the business forward.

ROE Expansion

Murphy also turned attention to return on equity, describing F&G as an “ROE expansion story.” He explained that leveraging reinsurance arrangements is a key lever in boosting equity returns while managing risk exposure. By transferring portions of its underwriting risk to reinsurers, the company aims to improve capital efficiency and sustain higher profitability margins.

Reinsurance Leverage

Leena Punjabi, the chief investment officer, reinforced the importance of disciplined asset allocation in supporting the reinsurance strategy. While no specific portfolio numbers were disclosed, she indicated that the investment team is aligning assets to complement the firm’s risk‑transfer initiatives. Mike Bailey, the CFO who joined only weeks before the conference, echoed the sentiment, noting that the financial leadership is focused on maintaining strong balance‑sheet metrics as the company pursues its growth and ROE goals.

In summary, F&G’s leadership conveyed a clear message of continuity and ambition at the KBW Insurance Conference. The company plans to keep expanding its AUM base, capitalize on reinsurance to lift ROE, and sustain the momentum that has defined its recent performance.
